In the underwriting process, agents may have needed to ask follow-up questions, which would elongate the eligibility evaluation. This is not necessary anymore due to the Affordable Care Act, but if you were assessing eligibility before the law passed, you would need to know how to regard these conditions on an application. To be as efficient as possible, you would want to make sure the applicant gives specific answers to any condition they have marked “yes.” You would encourage the client to be as detailed as possible, citing the medical name of the condition and diagnosis codes if they are available.
